Reclaiming Greatness through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
I am a survivor of the Khmer Rouge regime—something I’ve carried in silence for decades. I’ve seen the depths of human cruelty, and I would never wish that experience on anyone. Like many Khmer people, I’ve endured unimaginable loss. And for the past forty years, I’ve wrestled with the question: How do we prevent this from ever happening again? Cambodia is a small nation, often overlooked by the world. We don’t have oil or global tech industries that draw protection or alliances. And now, with the recent invasion by Thailand, the killing of our people, and the destruction of our heritage, I am heartbroken—because once again, we are suffering while the world looks away.
But something has changed. Out of this pain, Khmer people around the globe are awakening. We are uniting in grief, yes—but also in pride. A pride rooted in the strength of our ancestors, who built empires that still awe the world. We are the descendants of engineers, architects, scientists, and thinkers who made the impossible possible. And though we’ve been held back for centuries—by colonialism, war, and silence—we are not broken. The spirit of our people is alive, and it is ready to rise.
This is our moment. As history has shown, every great civilization is built on knowledge—on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These are not just subjects in school. They are the keys to our independence, our innovation, and our future. If we want to stand tall again—not just as survivors, but as builders—we must invest in STEM. We must educate and empower the next generation of Khmer minds to lead, invent, and build what our ancestors once began.
That’s why the KHMER STEM Global Network was created. It is a space for Khmer students and professionals around the world to come together as one: to collaborate, support, and grow a movement that reaches far beyond any one of us. Guided by the principle—One Forum. One Family. One People—this is more than a network. It’s a mission to restore the brilliance of our culture through education, collaboration, creativity, and unity.

So, I ask you: If you believe in the future of Cambodia, join us. Whether you're a student just starting out, a professional ready to give back, or someone who simply wants to make a difference—this is your call. Step into STEM. Be part of something bigger than yourself. Help us rebuild not just a nation, but a legacy. The time is now. Let us rise—together.
